John Deere B model (Front Axle)
The John Deere B model tractor was in production in between 1935 to 1952. It was a 17 horse power tractor with 2440 CC displacement 2 cylinder gasoline and kerosene version engines. It was a less expensive and lower version of A model tractor. It was single front wheeled axle tractor i.e. both front wheels are joined by a very small axle (about 4 inches in length). The main benefit of these tractors was very less turning radius i.e. tractor almost turns with one wheel at same point.
Eicher ED series leaf suspension type axles
A large number of Eicher’s ED series tractors were imported in India after independence by the Goodearth company. In these ED series tractor there were leaf suspension type front axles which absorbs bumps of road and field very smoothly and provides a comfortable ride but there was a drawback of these axles i.e. misalignment of front wheels which causes early wear of tyres.
Zetor’s Spring suspension type front axle
Before Independence in India Zetor tractors were imported in which there were mostly base model. But there were some top models also in which they have spring type suspension in front axles and track adjustment options in front axles also. They provides extremely smooth riding experience as they absorb most of road bumps . Time to time maintenance is a little drawback of those axle.
Lanz Bulldog spring type axle
After independence many Lanz tractors were also imported in India, there are basically two types of tractors 1. Original Lanz bulldog tractors with blue color on body & bonnet while red color on rims. 2. Lanz tractors acquired by John Deere tractor company after which company had changed the color scheme of Lanz tractor i.e. Green color on body & bonnet and yellow color on rims. The spring type suspension in front axle were in both models, last models in original Lanz bulldog and John Deere Lanz tractors also. Both type of models were imported in India. These springs in front axles were smaller than the suspensions of Zetor models.

These type of front axles are very common and seen almost most of the modern tractors optionally and standard as well. The main purpose of providing these type of axles is provide different types of track adjustment when
- There is crop between standard track adjustment.
- You have bigger and narrow iron wheels and at that time there is troubling in turning tractor.
- When you want to fit dozer lines.
Non Adjustable front axles
Non adjustable Front axles are now available in most of the tractors and these type of front axle has no adjustments. Tractors with these type of axles are comparatively low in price as compared to adjustable axle tractors. These front axles are suitable for transportation applications.
Curve type Front Axles
Curve type front axles are available in both adjustable and non adjustable type. The main benefit of these type of curve type axles is less wheel base which results less turning radius. These type axles are seen in Massey tractor models, Mahindra bhomiputra series and Ford 3600, 3000 and some early models of Swaraj.
