Today if we look at front axle spindle of Indian then we don’t have many options so many options even we have only one type standard front spindles but this situation was different in old time i.e. in 50s and 60s and even in 70s also. Lets take deep look at all these types of spindles and all these have different merits and demerits:
Standard spindles:
These types of spindle are available in almost modern tractors in market and these are very simple which have cylindrical sliding mechanism between these cylindrical shapes grease is filled and simple bearing mechanism is used in front wheel. Tractors:
- All modern tractors in India today.
Adjustable & Removable spindle:
These types of spindles are seen in Zetor and HMT tractors and in DT 14 and DT 2O tractors. The main purpose of providing these spindles is adjustable ground clearance i.e. owner can adjust ground clearance according to need especially in spraying in field to avoid damage to small crop. Tractors:
- Zetor’s all old tractors.
- HMT’s all Zetor based tractors.
- DT 14.
- DT 20.
Unique Tilt type spindle:
These type of spindles are only seen in ED series of German Eicher tractors. there were 2 connecting points on each spindle. But sometimes there was a issues of wheel alignment that was why time to time maintenance was required. Tractor models:
- Eicher ED 24.
Rare Oil type spindles:
In all other type of spindles we have greasing option in front wheel but in this type of spindle lubrication oil is filled in front wheel hub and the main benefit of this is long life of front wheel bearings because there is very less wear and tear bearings and other components. Tractor models:
- RS09 (A German tractor).
Shock absorber type Spindles
These types spindles were in only Zetor top series tractor and lanz Bulldog later models, the main benefits of these types of spindles was that they absorb most of the road bumps and provides a comfortable ride. Tractors:
- Zetor 5511.
- Zetor 8011 crystal.
