Here are some fuel saving tips which should be followed by the operator to save fuel:
- There should be proper air pressure in tyres according to situation and for that you can check tyre table.
- There should be proper free play in clutch and brake paddle.
- To avoid wheel slippage use ballasting methods such as use of weights or water ballasting.
- There should be no leakage of fuel from fuel lines.
- Follow maintenance schedule for long life and better performance of tractor.
- Air cleaner element should not be dirty.
- Fuel filter should not be clogged.
- There should be proper ballast.
- Proper service of injection pump, nozzles and injectors should be done.
- There should be proper lubrications of all greasing points.
- Tractor should be operated at recommended engine RPM.
Here are the details about lubrications oil amount & type:
Oil & Lubrications
Part | Amount | Type |
---|---|---|
Engine | 6.5 litres | SAE 15W-40 |
Transmission & Hydraulics | 32 litres for grease axle 31.4 litres for oil axle | BIO-HY-GARD |
Coolant | 9.8 litres | John Deere COOL-GARD II |
Grease | As required | John Deere GREASE-GARD |
Front axle | 5.9 litres | HY-GARD |
Here are some precautions which should be followed by the operator for safe operations:
- Coolant should be filled only when engine is cool.
- Don’t mix petrol with diesel to generate extra power.
- Operations regarding battery should be done in an open area.
- While checking electrolyte level in battery wear proper devices.
- Don’t any metallic object to terminals to check battery.
- While using differential lock both front tyres should be in a straight line i.e. there should be no turn because it will damage gears and spindles.
- Don’t loose clothes when PTO is in operation.
- Don’t rest your feet on clutch paddle while driving the tractor.
Here is full details about instrument cluster:
- Tachometer with 3000 max engine RPM.
- Engine oil gauge.
- Fuel gauge.
- High beam indicator lights.
- Restriction in air cleaner indicator.
- High beam indicator.
- Digital hour meter.
- Engine coolant temperature indicator.
- System charging indicator.
Weight on each tyre
To maintain proper safety for tractor it is very important to drive tractor below maximum weight capacity limits. Maximum weight capacity limit is different for rear and front tyres which changes with tyre size and ply rating. To better understand about it, here is table for maximum weight capacity for front and rear tyre:
Tyre size | Ply rating | Weight capacity (kg) |
---|---|---|
6.00*16 | 8 | 534 |
7.50*16 | 8 | 750 |
8.18 | 6 | 800 |
Tyre size | Ply rating | Weight capacity (kg) |
---|---|---|
12.4*28 | 12 | 1211 |
13.6*28 | 12 | 1329 |
14.9*28 | 12 | 1545 |
To get maximum fuel efficiency from tractor it is very to select perfect implement for tractor and to better understand about it here is a table for implement selection for tractor:
Implement selection
Implement | Type |
---|---|
MB plough | 2 bottom |
Reversible MB plough | 1 bottom |
Disc plough | 2 disc |
Offset Disc harrow | 12 and 14 discs |
Trailed disc harrow | 12 to 14 discs |
Cultivator (rigid spring) | 7 to 9 tines |
Rotavator | 1.25 metre |
NOTE: Implement selection may change with soil conditions especially in case of rotavator.

Water ballasting
To avoid wheel slippage extra iron weight rings can be used (each of weight 48 kg) on rear wheels but after mounting weights on rims it is very important to tight all nuts and bolts with recommended torque amount and to better understand about it here is a table for it:
Parts | Torque amount |
---|---|
Front disc to hub | 210 Nm |
Rear disc with rim | 245 Nm |
Rear disc with hub bolts | 550 Nm |
Bolts for ROPS adjusment | 420 +- 10 Nm |
Rear weight with disc | 230 Nm |
While water ballasting is also a good option to increase weight of tractor but before filling water in tubes there are some important thing which should be followed by the operator:
- There should be 75% water and 25% air in each rear tyre.
- In case of extremely cold conditions, 600 gram of calcium chloride should be added in 1 litre of water and maintain this ratio according to total amount of water filled.
To better understand about water ballasting here are two charts according to rear and front wheel amount for water:
Tyre size | Amount of water in KG |
---|---|
6.00*16 | 30 kg |
7.5*16 | 40 kg |
8*18 | 30 kg |
Tyre size | Amount of water in KG for each tyre |
---|---|
12.4*28 | 216 kg |
13.6*28 | 237 kg |
14.9*28 | 339 kg |
16.9*28 | 339 kg |
